Diatom Bloom

I have a 12 gallon aquapod and last week i started having a problem with diatoms. Nothing real major just a couple of brown spots on the sand and glass. Well I went to the LFS and got 5 assorted snails. The next day My LR was covered in Brown. the snails have managed to get the rock clean but now my sand looks more like dirt. Can anyone tell me about how long this will last and is it supposed to get worse before it gets better. All of my water parameters are right on and my water temp is around 78. Thanks for the help

The diatoms usually go away by themselves, my diatom blooms never lasted more than a week, then all i had to do was a water change and clean the glass

diatom blooms are a natural part of tank maturation.

brandonlai is right, they pretty much take care of themselves
