diatom bloom?

Is it normal for a diatom bloom to break out after 1 week of going thru a cycle? Being new and reading and seeing all the pictures on this stufff i know this is what it is. stupid camera aint working right now but im 99.9% sure its a diatom bloom. theyre covering my rock and starting to creep up on the glass. is there anything i should do while this cycle is taking place? :rollface:

Very normal. They go away by themselves but adding some snails will hasten the process.

adding some snails? what do the parameters have to be? im at 0 ammonia but the nitrates and nitrite are still high. will that be ok?

Snails are pretty hard and can tolerate pretty high nitrate levels and some nitrites. If you are seeing nitrates the nitrites will soon become undetectable.

cool thanks waterkeeper. guess ill just wait a few more days for the nitrites to go down as they are slowly dropping as i test every day.
