REcently did a major water change in my tank--as a result the tanks water is sparkling, however my live rock has a dusty muscusy film on it--are these diatoms? and how do I get rid of same?
Diatoms look like brown dust on rocks and the glass and will blow off the rocks with your trusty turkey baster (you have one right?). Very common after large water changes. Keep them suspended in the water column and your filter will take care of them. It'll take a couple of days.
