Live and Learn. I made a rookie mistake. The majority of my SPS have been bought from my LFS which uses fairly strong LED light. I buy the coral, dip it, and put it in a spot based on the research I have done on what it likes. I tried buying some coral from a local reefer and got some very nice pieces for a very good price but did not take into consideration what kind of lights he used which was much less than I run. My mistake... I bleached some of the corals but have been able to bring most of them back by careful placement and slowly moving them to their final home.
My Millepora I'm not so sure about though. When I first got it I put it in a high random flow area about mid high in my tank at the top of a rock. It had nice long green polyps fully extended. It didnt take long for it to bleach almost completely and the polyps stopped coming out. I moved it to a lower light area on the bottom and it has been sitting there for several weeks. The polyps have not come out since but the ribs, (I'm not sure what else to call them) have started to fluoresce green. The low light area it is in does not have much flow so I am thinking of moving it to an area with more light and flow.
My big question. Is it still alive? I have been told that if polyps still come out of a bleached coral it is still alive but needs care. I have no polyps but am showing signs of zooxanthellae.
