Did Live Aquaria increase their minimum tank sizes for fish?

Was browsing the site when I noticed many Butterfly fish are 125 gallon minimum. Before I swear it was 70 gallon minimum for them. Also the dwarf angels went from 30 gallon minimum to 70 gallon minimum.

Now I'm looking at my tank and wondering if my 30 gallon is too small for my Coral Beauty? :hmm3:

Do these minimum tank requirements seem accurate to you guys?

I trust their recommendations... things change as experience is gained.

Now that you mention it, yes, they did up the minimum tank size recommendations. Butterflyfish tend to be fairly active, so I guess LA just thought they would be better off in a larger tank.

It looks sort of funny seeing some at 120 and some at 125, although I know they are typically 4' and 5' tanks, respectively.

Well that's a good thing to do :)
But I wonder does that make any difference really, as people who have their minds set on getting some fish will look for acceptance from another vendors site...
I'm not an American, so I actually don't have any experience about LA, but I have come to the conclusion that they are well respected and responsible dealers.
So

While I do like the fact that things change with experience, I totally don't think an emperor angelfish belongs in a 125 long term.

I think they just made an input error.. Similiar fish to the emp like the blueface has 220g. Most of their large angels are 180g+.

They must have made a mistake when they updated it, because it used to say 220 gallons for emperor. I think they meant to put in 225 but the person typed down 125 instead.

"it's a good thing" just like the queen of home decoration always said. in spite of their smaller size they r active reef fishes, a good size tank with lots of rocks and caves certainly make them feel more at home.

LA is kind of the gold standard in the US in terms of websites that are trying to provide information as well as sell things. The information on their website is very influential. It may be experience or just a display of confidence that they've got a strong enough position in the market that they can provide better recommendations without hurting their sales. Maybe a little of both. Whatever motivated the change, kudos.

Yes I know that. I even sometimes browse thru their lists and check prices if I'm getting something here! LOL
Gives an idea, though the prices are higher here. I just put +20% and change it in to € and that's it :D
κῦδος!!
