My PBT which was eating like a pig that he is/was last nite. Found him dead this morning so I proceed to check my salinity wit a refractometer. It came out to be 1.030 Would that kill a fish I thought they don't like it but it should be OK for a short while if you didn't know it's that high. My YT is acting lethargic. I also found a couple of dead/inactive pods. I figure the salinity must have shot up for just a few days now.

Salinity spikes are very tough on fish and inverts and most likely the reason. Lower it back down slowly at about .01sg a day.

I would double check the refractometer. If you didn't add salt to the system in some way that wasn't normal, the S.G. wouldn't just "go up" on its own. The Red Sea has a specific of 1.028 and I've accidently had larval fish go well above 1.030, so I'm thinking coincidence here....
