Last night I noticed that on my porites coral, were a few small white parasitic looking pods that were crawling around on it. I had noticed some tissue loss on the coral and figured this was where it was coming from. I had just finished a water change on the tank and really didn't want to deal much more with the tank... I had heard of doing freshwater dips to rid corals of unwanted parasites, so I decided to run the coral under some warm running tap water briefly to make sure I rid myself of whatever these critters were...
The coral instantly turned brown (it was a beautiful yellow) and when I woke up this morning, I noticed some tissue recession from the tips. I broke the tips off the coral in hopes to stop the recession, but I am fairly confident it's a goner
$60 and a beautiful coral down the tubes.
Anybody else do stupid things in your tank? Help cheer me up!
