Did you see the DD alert!!!!!!!!

my LFS has one. at first i didnt know anything about them, then he looked it up to show me that they go for about $3K each. he said his only has 1 eye or has a blind eye so i guess that diminish the value of it. said it was given to him.

+1 for the kite.

Great job Kevin and a great price for the McClulloch's clownfish, too.

I don't even know what one of those is. Coral safe?

No clue...based on the description on fishbase, it doesn't sound like they are found around coral. Whether that means they don't eat coral or they won't eat coral, I'm not sure.

The DD one looks pretty skinny... hope it gets some TLC from the new owner.

kite butterflies are very common along the beaches of my country.

they are often caught along the tidepools or rocks by little kids who go playing at the beach. they're often found swimming with copperbands, and can be caught easily with hand nets.

they're not particularly difficult, but not the easiest and they are not the safest with corals either.

you can see here how common they are and how shallow they can be found at.

those aren't my pics haha.

they're from wildsingapore, a website showcasing some wild marine life in what little coastal area we have left.

on a side note, we get them alot from nearby batam and they are so so cheap. sometimes they sell for $2-3 because they're caught locally without having to scuba and the transport from batam to singapore requires no air freight.

it's a waste because no one buys them here and they're so much better beign exported elsewhere where people appreciate them more.

the kite butterflyfish is very unique indeed!

I've seen that Butterflyfish before, In Scott Michael's Angel & Butterflyfish (Reeffishes, Vol. III).
But I thought it was called an Ocellate Coralfish. I could be wrong. Anyway the Bi-nomial name would be better used here.

Matthew
Beautiful, unique fish BTW
