Difference in SD Memory

Decided to replace my point and shoot with a Canon SD1000IS. Seems to get awesome reviews for the price! Anyway... my last camera seemed like it took too long in between pictures and I've heard this could be attributed to the memory card. What do I look for in a memory card?

o i just looked at my cards, the 8gb is 300 and the 4gb is the 133, i just bought the 8gb before my last west trip. But still, i dont recall any problems with the 133 being slow!

Class is all that matters

Hello:

Dont read any of the information presented by any vendor as far as "speed rating" goes.

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS THE CLASS OF THE CARD.

Right now the FASTEST CLASS in the market is a "class 6" SD card. The class tells you the minimum write speed which is the single most important thing to look at... class 6 cards write at a MINIMUM of 6 mbps.

DONT BE FOOLED by big numbers from manufacturers, some advertise write speeds of 15-20 mbps however these MAXIMUM write speeds which mean absolutely nothing.

Estefano

SDHC cards may not be compatible in all cameras, be careful before you buy and see if your camera will support SDHC.
