what is the difference in dry and wet skimming.

does wet skimming remove more ?

does it really matter?

if i have a heavy bio load, do i want a wetter skim?

Wet skimming removes more water and algae cells, dry skimming seems to accumulate all the finer chunks and pile them into what looks like little turds.

Wet skimate means more, indeed.

Basically, it lowers the bar as far as what gets skimmed out. A less-wet skimming is usually much thicker and darker.. and STINKIER... Some people use a VERY wet skim setting to do the water changes. Pretty good idea. You end up taking out crappier water for the water change, instead of clean stuff. Usually you can get the effects of a 10% water change, by only doing 5% do to the fact that it is 'dirtier' water that you are changing.
