Differences between SWC 250A and SWC 250 1A?

I realize the cone style is the main difference, but what about the skimmate production? Does the cone style warrant an extra $300.00? Please let me know. I am looking into getting a new skimmer. Thank you.

I have the SWC 250A on a 175 heavy stocked sps tank & it is more than I need. I hear the cones are better at skimming but I go back to the fact of enough is enough. My skimmer can take every other day off & still keep up, so spending another $300.00 is up to you.

I can't justify spending 300 extra unless it completely blows it out of the water. That is why I am asking. I will upgrade to a bigger tank in the future. My total water volume is about 210 right now.

Let's just say that I've heard it on good authority that the cone doesn't dramatically outperform the non-cone versions. You may see a 15% improvement, or even less. I've tried to get various sellers of cone skimmers to justify the price difference, and nobody has been able to do so to my satisfaction. YMMV, though.

I opted for the 300A for my 150g tank for this reason.

Hmmm.... maybe I will wait until the 230 A comes out then. 550 is a better price. Still expensive of course though. In the future I would like to upgrade my tank. Of course, we always do that. Us reefers.
