Is normal for a mantis to have diferent size on the appendage? I just notice the right appendage on my peacock is bigger than the left size Jus wonder if is normal or hit something real hard and just broke or something.
Thank you.

When a raptorial appendage is lost, it takes about four molts for it to regenerate. The first molt, the appendage is about a third normal size, non-functional and has little color. The second molt it wil about half size or a bit more, be capable of moving but not really striking, and have a bit more color. The third molt it will be normally colored, functional but a bit weak, and about 75-85% normal size. The fourth molt should get things back to normal -although it will be perhaps a bit smaller that the other one. This is a rough approximation. When in the molt cycle the appendage is lost will have some effect. If the appendage is lost approaching the molt, the first post loss molt may not produce any regeneration.
