help identify?

here is another pic. They are brittle to the the touch and break off easily. They seem to be growing out of some type of translucent sponge like base in the rock. There are some small tube worm/feather dusters near them but they are not the same.

Humm...
I don't think I see any hydroids there. I'm sorry.
Perhaps other people could tell by the pictures.
Are you able to get a closer shot?
That way maybe we could try to identify.

All I see are the feather duster worms' tubes.
Some are with the crown exposed and some aren't showing the crowns.

Bottom line is that they are not hurting nor irritating the zoas...
No worries. Looks good to me.

... normally digitate hydroids are very fine and have " hairs" on the sides, all over.
The polyps would probably be "stung" by them and retracted...

Here are some more pics i took after yanking the rock from my tank. Much of this live rock was kept in brute bins for months in the dark so my feeling is that the sponges grew...what is wierd is that the long tentacles coming out from the sponge seem to be photosynthetic. Any ideas?

Yes, there are sponges there and the tubes of feather duster worms.
When they are in the water one can see the little white crowns sticking out.
All good to me. I like the sponges and the worms. They won't damage the polyps and you can make sure they won't get in nuisance numbers by mechanical control.
