I just found out I have to be out of town for most of the next 2 weeks probably leaving Tuesday. I've been treating Elvis, my emporer angel in QT with coppersafe for 7 days now and planning to go the full 30 days with treatment. My royal gramma is still in the tank presumably with ich since I haven't been able to catch her for treatment. I'm not too worried about the tank, I can do a good water change and hubby can top off and feed lightly. I'm worried about what to do with Elvis in QT. If he was in the tank I wouldn't worry much but, I know its not a good idea to put him back in a tank I know has ich in it.
My hubby doesn't know anything about SW fish but says if I make up and label all the water, he will top off, vacuum out, and do water changes to keep the QT water quality perfect. I can write detailed instructions and prebag foods as well plus, I will be accessible by phone. I would also be able to stop by the house briefly every 4-5 days. I know he means well and I love him for offering but, I am questioning whether he can really keep up. I've been vacuuming 2-3 times per day, feeding lightly 2-3 times per day, and changing out at least a gallon or two per day plus a 5 gallon change every few days. Even with that, I detected very light ammonia yesterday added some prime with my water change. The other issue is he works 24 hour shifts so the QT would need to go without care for about 26 hours on the days he has to work. I think he will be home for most of it though due to some time off he has. The person who would normally fish sit for me is not available most of the time but, I do have him stopping by one of the days between my visits.
I do not want Elvis to die so I'm wondering what the safest course of action would be. I thought about giving Elvis away to one of our more senior experts just to be sure he will be alright but, Troy says he knows how much I like Elvis and says that is not neccessary. I'd feel alot better if I was leaving a human baby, I know he can handle that, lol. He says I worry too much. I think I might find a receipt from a LFS and a fish that acts slightly different if something does go wrong :worried:. Any suggestions?
