I have never had this issue before. I have a 92 gallon corner tank. My parameters all in good standing which is why I am miffed. The tank has always needed the glass cleaned every couple of days for diatom dust on the glass. 5/2/16 I did a massive WC because, my RODI filters were just replaced and I figured since I was getting a good sized Vivid Corals order in...I should clean the tank. The day my order got in...I was adding the Coral to the tank and noticed brown strings. The tank is not bad. It nearly has a foothold. My tank is now covered with cardboard. My equipment list is Reef Octopus Skimmer and REEF Octopus Carbon/phos reactor, algae turf scrubber too. My lights are 2 Kessil A360WE fixtures and a 6 bulb ATI T5 fixture. I recently extended the T5 photo period from 4 hours to 6 hours and decreased the Kessil intensity 10% for its daily ramp.
Have I missed anything? Is there anymore I can do? I have a UV but it's not hooked up. Should I do my Biopellets and scrap the algae scrubber? Dose carbon? Dose bacteria to outcompete the Dino's? Any experienced advice is appreciated.

hi dinos are a tuffy, I do full zeovit and had about with dinos, tried everything, after tw0 weeks I broke down my sump emptied it and scrubbed it clean , same with skimmer as well as cleaning all the plumbing (big fun) I cut back on my carbon dosing replaced the carbon and about one week later they were gone. like I said it is baffling when they strike and confusing to deal with, btw the crap in the pipes make what the skimmer pulls out look clean, try it it worked for me good luck zsu

Oooooooh.....that's a good one. No,clue why I've not thought of it. Good call. I'll get a pipe cleaner tomorrow anyway. Suggestions?.... Keep em comin'

What worked for me:
3 weeks of 100% water changes with IO salt
Removed my sand bed
Increased my water flow
Raised alk to 11

I would keep your pH high as well. 8.4 steady if possible. I got so ****ed about them i was dumping kalk slurry in my tank until it turned the tank white. You could see them die during this...I DONT recommend that method though...if you have a way to maintain minimum of8.4 pH its reportedly helped.

I also did the broadcast dump oh H2O2 and it helped. No issues with any corals..SPS,LPS Zoas...although zoas do close up for a bit after dosing it.

I can't really say what finally eradicated mine, BUT i had a powerhead sandstorm once and they reappeared briefly as if they were still in the sand
