What do you feed them?

Frozen H20 Life Cyclops
Frozen Argent Cyclops-eeze
Frozen H20 Life Rotifers

3 cubes of the above are target fed about 3-4 times daily.

One tablespoon of Coral Frenzy and 10ml of Reef Nutrition's Oyster Feast every other day is fed to my entire tank.

A video demonstrating flow will come soon. Stand by!

Super coral. The red species with snow white polyps is undoubtedly my absolute favourite! :)

In the feeding video you don't appear to have any current at all around the gorgonian. Do you switch the pumps off when feeding in this manner? Is it to ensure that as many polyps as you can are target fed?

If so what sort of current is this coral normally subjected to?

Hey John, sorry for the late reply. The red one is a stunner for sure!

Exactly! The flow in the entire tank was turned off. Unfortunately, with particulate food, even fish swimming by can disturb feeding diodogorgias (as evident in the video).

Well, I'm glad you asked! Here is a new video demonstrating the flow:

To make a long answer short, it's subjected to intermittent gentle laminar flow.

Feel free to ask anymore questions. Cheers!

beautiful polyp extension! I've only had mine for about a month and discovered last night that the polyps had finally decided to extend on the majority of the coral. Did yours immediately come out when you placed it in your tank?

Congratulations, now the hard part is keeping the polyps out :)

No, it took several days to reach 100% polyp extension. How long it takes for the polyps to come out depends on several factor:

1. Health of the coral in the dealer's tank.
2. Shipping process (how quickly and how well packed)
3. The water quality, food availability and flow in your tank.

Obviously, no matter how good #3 is, you will be fighting an uphill battle if conditions 1 and 2 are not good. Anyhow, what's important is that the polyps on your specimen are out and ready to feed. Keep it up and don't forget to share!

Looks excellent!!

I have a Diodogorgia that looks just like yours EXCEPT i dont have the 'white hair' extensions. Otherwise the color is the same.

How do I know if the coral is still alive?

If coral still have a smooth "skin", not eroded ragged look. The worst case if skeleton is exposed (thin rod in the middle).
If the water quality is tolerable, no red slime or aiptasia on its surface, flow is moderate-high and food is present in the water - it should open polyps for a feeding.
