There's a ton of variables involved like what kinds of corals, what kind of dip, colony or frag, tank size and parameters, etc...

At the end of the day acros, montis and zoas have pests that can lay eggs which are unaffected by dips. They'll hatch wherever you put them, so some forward thinking is a good plan on those before tossing them into a display.

I thought about that when creating this poll, but hopefully I will get enough "general" feedback..................

I guess it's not such a straight forward answer. Quite open ended

I've always run nano-type systems and never had the space to QT corals. I always buy from local people with tanks that I know take good care of their reef and qt corals. My philosophy is if I buy quality corals pest free then I am saving myself trouble in the end even if the frags are a bit more expensive.

From personal experience that philosophy will bite you in the *** one day. I wouldn't recommend putting your tank's health in the hands of other people...

Always a dip with Revive or Bayer, then into a non-fish full reef quarantine for 72 days. This also goes for rock, macro, inverts, etc. (not the dip, obviously). QT is a 10 gallon tank with par 38 bulb, nano powerhead.

Much easier to siphon flatworms, pick off nudies, and deal with other things during an extended quarantine stay rather than in the DT.
