Dipping information

I have been doing some reading about dipping zooanthids because of the problems I have been having with mine.
I have read about the iodine dip and the lugous dip or whatever it's called. Are they the same or just similar?
My LFS said they would give me a capful of this iodine stuff and I just mix it with a gallon of water change water. After that I leave the corals in there for 5 minutes and then take them out and I'm all set. Anyone have any experience with this? Also, after I dip them can I just drop them right back into my tank or do I have to wash them off with Freshwater or antying so the iodine doesn't get in my tank.

your are on the right track and Lugous is one brand of iodine. There are several others that sell it.

Have you read Mucho Reef's thread on this. For me it is was great in that he writes with a lot of detail. Here's the link in case it's not what you've been reading.

I read on here where couple people have mixed chemicals and done their dip with several chemicals and killed their colonies. The feedback basically said to watch for interactions of chemicals and to remember the stress the dip puts on the colony.

Lastly, many people swirl their frag/colony in a cup of tank water before placing them in the display to dilute the iodine further and to see if anything falls off.

Good luck.

You forgot to put the link><
I am trying to do a search for it but it always says it's busy, check out the premium membership blah blah

Thank you very much.
Another thing I noticed is all over my corals and chaeto algae there is like strandy stringy reddish color algae I am going to say. It is all over the polyps and live rock that they are on...is this just a regular algae or is it something bad?
