Dirt cheap straight through reactor?

I am looking for a tube that is openable, but seals on both ends (screws off or whatever) and has a nipple on each end of about 3/8"-1/2".

Basically I just want something I can stuff full of filter media and then pump fluid through and have it come out the other end.

Anyone know where I can get something like that dirt cheap? If not I will be stuck jerry rigging something up from home depot.

Joel I hate to recommend Aquatraders but they have a very cheap canister filter that actually works fairly well, I put one on our pool and it has worked ok. By the time you do the Depot thing the price will be about the same.

Thanks for the direction, I will have to check out their site for stuff that might work for me, this isnt actually for a fishtank, this is actually for filtering homemade hooch =)

A pressurized wine filter that flows around 60 gallons per hour is like $500. I am thinking some well rinsed filter floss, a tube to hold it in that has an in and an out, a cheap pump and a couple feet of tubing should run me around 50 bucks, and should do the job just as well if not better.

Add I was a previous Home brew guy,I highly recommend checking out Filter Guys and one of their inexpensive canisters such as the inline casing that holds resin, but can be packed with anything you wish, then you only need 1/4"fittings and say a minijet powerhead and tubing, and you are good to go unless you wished to look at some of their vast myriad of water filtration selection/inventory, which those Matrikx blocks are hard to compare to the standard blocks that come with even the most expensive ro/di units..

They are securely at the top of my list!

I bought a 2" pvc pipe , union and 2 end caps with 1/2 pipe thread in them. I put the union on one end so I can open it up.. I just jam filter floss in add gfo more floss and than carbon. I hooked it up to my return pump on a valve to control the flow. Cost about $15.
