Disappearing Fish

Yeah maxi-mini nems are very sticky, if a small fish happen to dart onto it, or if the carcass fell onto it, it will be eaten.
Didn't see you had that in there. Thinking further, I've always found every fish that has ever died in my tanks within 24hrs of death. I've never had one just disappear and I've always had crabs as part of the CUC.
I bet the nem got them, dead or alive. That seems like the most reasonable explanation for why they just disappeared and the other dead wasn't touched.

Suggestion: buy some fish at the grocery, put a blenny-sized piece on the sand bed under your vortech, and watch what happens.
