Disappearing water from sump

So for some reason I have to put 5-7 gallons or top-off water in my sump a week. I cant keep the sump leveled. I have no leaks either. Its weird. Anyone have any ideas??

If thats evap (which it prolly is) thats ALOT

Not really. I top off about a gallon per day in my 75g and it doesn't even have a sump (if it did, there would be even more surface area to allow evaporation from the system). I think it's pretty common for tanks to lose 1% to 2% of their volume to evaporation in a day -- depending on surface area and the temp and humidity of the air in the room.
FWIW,
Mariner

yeah what mariner said...i lose about 2 gallons per day....i put a gallon in before work in the morning and a gallon in before bed...IF i put 2 gallons in and fill it to my mark i can fill it once/day with about 2 gallons

Ok cool now my tank is being normal. Im gonna have to get an RO/DI unit now. Sure beats then going to Walmart every couple days.

My 55 losses about 5 gallons a week. It losses more if I run my lights longer. I currently have a 30 gallon drum that I use to get water from Aquarium Imports about every three to four weeks or so. That allows for about 10 gallon water change and top off water for the month. I am fixing to get me a 75gpd RO/DI unit, at the rate AI charges for water, it will pay for itself in no time.

I just read the ever increasing tank descriptions:D. I remember when there was a concerted effort to downsize:D:D:D.

The 120/125/40B/22 (all on one top off volume) eat about 35 gallons every three days. Then Jenn's 40B takes another 5 gallons, the 40B/50g livestock takes about 4 gallons every three days. The 150/100 livestock (soon to be sump/fuge for 120/125/22/40B(soon to be upgraded:D)) takes about 7 galons every three days. Testing all of those water volumes is what's killing me...

Best to top off with Kalk saturated ro/di water....
If doing with a doser or some means of slow continuous addition.
Has anyone had problems with overdosing kalk by exclusively topping off with Kalk water?
