Disappointed in Recent Order

I am writing to say that I am very disappointed in my recent order. I have ordered ALL of my livestock online for the past several years. I have extensive experience in receiving and properly acclimating marine animals that have been shipped. I have never received an order with so many losses and mistakes. Three of the shipping bags were leaking heavily upon arrival and had lost nearly all of their water.

Two of the fish that I ordered were dead in the bag and despite proper acclimation did not recover. Both of these bags had been placed sideways on the top of the rest of the bags spreading out the water so that it was not even deep enough for the fish to remain upright, likely the reason they did not survive. This is particularly disappointing because the macro algae that I ordered could have been placed in that position without harm, freeing up space for both fish to be placed upright lower in the box. A third fish should never have been shipped, it is so thin I can see its ribs and spine bones.

As for the invertebrates, the cleaner shrimp that I ordered was dead upon arrival, as were the astraea snails. Both were acclimated and did not revive. Two of the mushroom corals that I ordered are not the type/color that I ordered and all three were in water that was so dirty (brown and obviously fouled) I can only assume they were packed long before being shipped; virtually all of these animals were so stressed that they were detached from the rocks they were shipped with.

We are very sorry of course that your shipment did not go well. Obviously we will do whatever we can to make things right and cover any loses you have completely. I think that every company whether it sells fish or computers is capable of making mistakes from time to time and it is how those mistakes are handled that sets good companies apart from great ones.

Please send an email to customerservice@bluezooaquatics.com, if you have not done so already, and outline the issues that you had. We will make sure this issue is resolved immediately.

Thank you for the reply. I have contacted customer service and they have been very helpful and are replacing all of the lost livestock.

Please understand that I did not mean to imply that this was a regular problem; I spoke with many happy customers prior to purchase. I understand that things don't always go smoothly, especially where live animals are involved, and I am happy to see that Blue Zoo stands behind the animals that they sell.
 
I am not sure the circumstances of the problem or resolution of Gwynhidwy's order, but I know,without a shadow of a doubt, that in my many years of the hobby I have never met a more honorable company than Bluezoo. I have been praising these guys for a long time now and after many, many orders from them from their location (CA) to mine in NJ....i still challenge any hobbyist to find a better company...cause they wont. Bluezoo (in the RARE instance that some arrives DOA) will take care of it and stand by their products. They truely are a superior company!

Nice customer service:thumbsup: I was browsing some of the vendor forums and after seeing this thread and the great selection of livestock offered from Blue Zoo, I bit the bullet and ordered some corals to stock up my tanks. Looking forward to getting some new livestock for the system.
 
I did receive the replacements. The fish were great, but I had the same problem with all the mushroom corals that I ordered having detached from their liverock as before. This was likely due to stress during shipping, but it is not a problem that I have had before.

The customer service from Blue Zoo was good and they definitely have a nice selection.

I agree 100%. I received my first order and had a few loses after acclimation. 5 sexy shrimp entered the tank and were not seen for over a week...all were replaced in full, even though I had no proof of their actual death. I placed another order last week that will be arriving Tuesday. I could not ask for better customer service.
 
just received my 2.5-3" scribbled angel from BZA, packing was perfect. After a 1.5-2 hour drip acclimation, she was placed in a QT. This evening she nippled on frozen mussells.
 
I'm happy to read the good stuff here. My 1st, and only order, was for 9 fish of which 2 were DOA. 2 more were dead after day 1 and 4 more died in week 2 (when they all came down with ick). I have 2 that are still alive (none of my existing fish died from the ick but they did get spotty). I got credit for 3 of the 4 that died in the 7 day guarentee as I could ony produce 3 of the 4 bodies.

I was considering selling my credit but after reading the above I will proberbly try again.

Just thought I would add a brief comment regarding the folks at BZA.

I ordered a single wrasse (on sale) and thought I could use the shipping costs to cover a few other purchases (dry goods).

I received a call from BZA to help me appreciate that they couldn't safely or cost effectively ship the dry goods and live stock together.

So, they cheerfully cancelled my live stock order and agreed with me that $40 was too much to spend to ship a $17 fish.

I've ordered from them before and will definitely do so again.
