Disaster drilling a tank for an overflow

Has anyone here broken a tank drilling it? Just curious what the failure rate is. I think I may bite the bullet and go with the sump. I just like the clean(er) look of a drilled tank with properly run plumbing over an HOB overflow.

Is a 10 gallon ok for a 40g DT? Or should I go with a 20g maybe. How tall should the tank be in relation to how much water will be in it? Filled 1/2 way?

I drilled a little 10 gallon with no problems...there is a great thread here that will guide you through it, search user name "Justonemoretank"...I followed that step by step and I had no problems...

Economy 10 gallon tanks will break pretty easy. Drilling isn't always when the problem shows up. Doesn't take much tension on a bulkhead to break those tanks.
