Speaking of Friday, that was pretty crazy down at Scotts today when we were unbagging all the corals. I've never seen so many people all watching the corals being released.
It was funny, I got a couple really nice pieces and Randall got an awesome clam, you need to throw up a picture of that one ok?

I can't wait to see the new coral systems up and running so he can get a larger order and more nice stuff.
I am going to need a larger tank myself either that or more surface area for more sps.
Heres a couple shots, should I add more rock or keep it open? the only thing I can do is keep selling off my less colorful stuff to make room for the absolute nicest pieces, whats your guys opinions?

I love how open your tank is Chris! If I were to add more rock in it, I would add some pillars and arches. Or I would raise the height of the rock formation on the overflow side. Leave the center open as it is.
 
hmm.........an arch sounds tempting I have thought about connecting an arch to the overflow, I wonder how I would do that? I cant drill the overflow so I would have to glue it somehow, but I dont know if that would be stable? or even possible?
 
If it was held firmly on the other end, you can probally just lean it on the overflow without attaching it perhaps?
 
You could drill the overflow and use plastic rods drilled into the rock to support it. You could also build arches out of cement, cure it and use them to connect two of the columns. I think it would be cool to have a flat topped arch to add SPS to.
 
chris i call dibbs on a frag of that monti that you got!!!! that thing was sweet. What else did you end up getting???? The clam is doing good but i cant get a pic till after this week. Murf will have to get one as he will be watching the tank over sprig break for us.

That would be tough I'd have to drain out a couple hundred gallons to get the drill down in the tank. Unless I could do just a couple 1/4" - 1/2" deep holes by hand somehow then pound in a couple little pegs?
 
Russ I'll look at some tonga branch and see if it will lean like you said, that sounds the easiest, I could even use some epoxy around the base so it doesn't slide around any.

Randall, I got a small piece of that pink stylo, me and another guy split it up and scott got 2-3 tiny pieces to sell also i think.
 
Cool! Keep us informed on how the arches go. Ill be heading to Scotts this afternoon (hopefully) and will be dropping off some frags (heads up guys). Maybe Ill bump in to you there.
 
I think you should keep selling off my less colorful stuff to make room for the most colorful pieces. Try and not have anything brown in there.

I think an arch would be sweet. You could make a pvc frame to aqua stick each end down the epoxy a bunch of different shape and sizes of live rock and rubble to it. Maybe epoxy substrate to it first like Murf did on the bottom of his nano. Then you would have a really aggressive surface to glue on.

I have some flat pvc sheet stock at work, maybe I can mill a profile out for you to work with. Maybe take some measurements when I come over tomorrow.
 
Did just a little bit of rearranging in my tank this morning. Now i found room for about 2 or 3 small sps frags! There goes my tank upgrade budget.
 
good idea tim, if I did pvc it will become coated with coraline and corals weventually anyway, hmm I'm going think about that one, that would be very easy I could drill a hole in it at the bottom then the aquastik could go into the hole then onto the rocks to firmly attach it. I could also do a "tee" fitting with a small branch. I just would worry it looked too fake,
Dang now i'm back to the tong branch I might have to join you at Scotts Russ!

The picture is amazing actually, the coral looks average because I think they had some extreme actinic on in the photo.
I'll take a frag of the guys hand its pretty purple ;)
