Diseased Zoanthus

Hello all!

This is my first time here in the forum.

I have a small "garden" of zoanthus. They were growing ok until last week when one of the colonies (blue) started to get closed and some small white spots apeared in the closed polyps. It seems this is spreading to other polyps that are next to the diseased ones. What should I do?

(I have a 630 l tank with 2 x 250 w hqi and 2 x 54 w T5, water paremeters:
pH: 8.2; kH 7º; NO2: 0.01 ppm; NO3: 5.0 ppm; T: 25ºC)

Thanx...

Melchiah, any chance of a picture? Based on your description, I would hazard a guess that you might be dealing with zoa pox. If so a treatment with Furan2 should help.

It really seems to be zoapox. In my country its forbidden to sell Furan - 2. Same people say I can treat this condition with JBL Furanol II. What do you think?

Thanx

Hi again!

It seems i'm having sucess treating my zoas with furanol 2. I did 30 minutes of bathing in a solution of 1l with 1 tablet in 3 days. I'm going to repeat after 1 week. The white spots are disappearing and the polyps are reopening. However, some polyps disappeared.

I hope this never came back.

awesome news . It is better to lose a couple than the whole colony. If it does come back now you know how to take care of it. Do you have a picture of the zoas?

I have this photo but it is very poor. Don't know if you can see some polyps that are closed and have white spots. They were very white/gray but are getting blue and some already reopened.
