Disgusting LFS and Ich

You would assume it would be pest free. But that's why the guys who have tanks fir over 10 plus years will be super anal and qt everything. As you found out dipping is 50 50 at best in stopping pest from getting into tanks. If your wrasse only had few spots I would let it ride. It it's cover ttm will work but once you put it back into take same problem.

My thinking is he said white spots all over that makes me think his tank is not mature or stable enough to keep the fish stress and illness free to over come the parasite. Fish in the ocean do get ich and fight it off. But i think that is mostly because of the vast open waters.

.

I've had this tank and these fish about a year. What would you consider mature and stable? I do 10% weekly water changes and everything has been great until now.

For some reason i thought i read you just set it up..

its a tough thing i know .. :sad2:

Easy there... It has as much relevance as does yours. The op has a wrasse with ich. You discussed points of ich treatment methods as did others as did I... Certain wrasses can be fragile, others are extremely hardy. Most people accept that certain species are sensitive to copper and that the two ways to handle that are to take a few extra days to get to treatment level and be very cautious not to exceed recommended dosages, or to do TTM. To warn that TTM could cause issues with the wrasse is counterproductive to the OP as it's widely considered, the least stressful method of eliminating ich as long as proper protocol is followed (which it should be wether it's a wrasse or a damsel). If I had a sensitive species of wrasse such as a leopard wrasse, it would be what I would use instead of copper. And for what it's worth, most people mean cupramine now when they speak of Copper treatment which has less sensitivity issues, even though people still use the same knowledge base of sensitive fish.

OP. What kind of wrasse do you have?

I am just covering all basis...I would hate for him to blankly read a statement such as do TTM....not read up on it and his fish die and then blame me...any treatment out there can have negative effects....if you read my post I advise him to read the TTM article and suggest that to be the best method....but even then I have heard of fish dying from TTM as well because the infection was just too bad and the constant tank swaps caused stress that the fish couldn't handle.....this is a possibility he needs to be aware of and why I suggested he reads the article and not just go off my word....for you to blankly say TTM is perfectly safe and no fish have ever died from it would be a very nieve thing to say to a newbie...who probably doesn't even know what it is....there are risks involved like any treatment....much like with humans and prescriptions there are side affects....I may not get the same side affects you do...but they are all listed for a reason.....because they can happen....
