OMG bill has something negative to say about a dsb???? whant next you gona get a skimmer?

I want a skimmer. I like the DSB, just not in the main display, turd face,:hmm6:

Welcome back darling.:hmm5:

ok
lost again.... why would I have sand somewhere else? how would it help the main tank? If I put sand in a fuge, am I supposed to have a bare bottom tank? thats the only reason I would want sand in the main tank, so theres something on the bottom...

No worries.
Placing the sand in a refugium will give your main tank the benefits of nutrient removal without the drawback of having to tear your tank apart if you ever had to remove the sandbed.

Plus, if you have it in your refugium and lose power, the sandbed won't suck all of the oxygen out of your reef and kill your fish. I can explain more on that if you need me to.

Just in case I left this out, your refugium will be connected to your main display.

yeah I know, and I know im putting a sump on my tank even thought right now its not drilled, pets warehouse drills but Im not sure if Im gonna take it to get drilled or just drill it myself, gives me an excuse to get a drill lol, that and I want to try and make my own stand because my fiance thinks I cant, Ill show her (I hope)
so I plan on having a fuge in my sump, with sand of course, but I also planned on having sand (crushed coral, or whatever) in the display. also in the sump i plan on having a skimmer and heater if I need.

That's a lot of equipment in a small space.
If you can do it, have the refugium outside of the sump area. If not, I can help you design one. I had a 20 gallon sump with the refugium in it. I used Chaeto in the refugium. It stayed in a contained area and didn't get into my equipment. Then again, I did not run a skimmer.

If you want, I have an already drilled 55 that you can have. I even have the Durso overflow in it still, I think. It has it's brace and everything. You might have to get a bulkhead for it, I don't remember.
