Going to Destin next week and would like to do a 2 tank dive with a good dive company. Anyone have any suggestions? I also plan to do some snorkeling, do I need to pay one of the shops or can I just bring my own gear and go solo? Any help is greatly appreciated, we are arriving this Sunday.

You can shore dive the Destin Jetties, plus there are a couple of good dive shops in the area. I dove with one a few years ago, but I cant remember the name it was something aquatics and it was a good trip.

can someone tell me exactly where the jetties are..google pulls up like ten different places...I am in the wingate in destin

I just returned last night from spending 2 weeks in the area and diving with our favorite outfit in Destin, ScubaTech. Nancy and her crew are fantastic and will take excellent care of you. We have dove with them on the Sea Cobra several times over the last few years and have never had a bad experience. You can do a dive at the jetties, but will have to carry your gear a long way. It is good for snorkeling. It is at the end of Holiday Isle. You turn off highway 98 at the Sandpiper Resort sign and follow that road to the end. You can also go out on the Mongoose, a pontoon boat also operated by ScubaTech for a single tank dive or snorkeling. Beware, the water is unusually cold for this time of year. Down at about 90 ft it was 72 degrees and even in a 3 ml full suit, we were still chilled. I got some wonderful pics on our dives. Have a great trip. We are headed back for 2 days of diving on LD weekend and have already booked for 2 weeks next July. We prefer Okaloosa Island over Destin, but Destin is only a 6 mile drive from where we stay.
