Diving in Cozumel?

Me & my wife just became Scuba Certified the other week in Jamaica. We plan to be Open Water certified hopefully by the end of the month over here in PA.
We want to plan out next trip for diving. I've been really ooking at the Blue Angel resort & Dive shop in Cozumel.

Whose been to Cozumel?!

Been a few years since I've been to Cozumel, so I'm not sure what shops are still around and in operation. Last trip I went out with Papa Hog's, and they ran a decent op. Spend some time researching any outfit there before you commit...lots of iffy ones as well as good ones. The biggest thing in Cozumel is the currents, these are drift dives where you can't really fight the current, so it helps to have good buoyancy control and awareness of your surroundings and depth. Be real sure to stick the the DM and that dive flag...that is what the boat is following. It's also a good idea for each of you to carry a "safety sausage" attached to small reel (cheap finger spools are fine for this), just in case of separation. You'll want to shoot that sausage to the top before you surface...helps prevent boats from running over you, as well as helping them find you at the surface ;)

We went with "Dive With Martin". That was my first real dive ever, but others in my family have gone with those guys on at least 5 different occasions now, and were always happy with them.

I've done two dive trips to Cozumel and went with Dive Paradise both times. Good service and very good dive masters. It's a good size operation with enough boats to accommodate individuals and large groups.

Dutch is an interesting place. Good for training, and some neat stuff they have sunk in the quarry.

Del Mar Aquatics is GREAT!! Been diving with them for several years, and highly recommend them!! Remember to take trail mix for the dive masters....they love that!!

There are a lot of great ops on Cozumel. I have been diving with several. I now dive Mestizo, it's a much smaller op with only one boat, but the service I feel is better. It also depends on what you are looking to do. If you want someone that will give you tips and feedback on how to be a better diver, Freddy at Mestizo is your guy.

Went diving at Cozumel last October with "Living Underwater". Would HIGHLY recommend using them. Jeremy (dive master) takes great care of you! Very professional. The diving is absolutely amazing!
