Looks like the family is going to be heading to Hawaii during the summer around June/July. I've noticed a few threads on diving in Maui, any other spots there worth checking. We still haven't decided very much yet as in which Islands to stay on or visit and what not....just need a vacation. Any recomendations or advice is gladly appreceated.

Well the first thing you have to determine is what you want to do there.

If you want a lot of shopping, bars, restaurants, clubs, then you'll want to go to Oahu, Honlulu.

If you want majestic beaches, less tourists, amazing scenery, check out Kauai.

If you want something in-between with a bit of both, check out Maui. It is my favorite island. It has a lot of amazing scenic stuff, but a lot less city stuff than Oahu.

I havent been to the big island yet. But I hear theres a lot of amazing resorts there.

All of them can offer you some snorkeling/scuba diving either from shore or boat.

I would say are parents are looking to relax at the beaches and what not and seeing the sights. My brother and I are looking to also see the sights do so diving and definatly seeing the night life. It looks like Maui is the spot were looking for, however I also want to check out the Big Island.

When you go to maui check out black rock in kanaapali. It is behind the kanaapali beach hotel. It is right off shore and the fish are fed by tourists alot there so they are plentiful. If you go out around the edge of the big rock and turn the corner the other side opens up to a full blown reef with amazing corals and fish. Becareful though the current can be rough.

I will be in Honolulu for a week and Maui for a week in July. Where is the best for snorkeling?

north coast, shark bay. I was there last July and got my wife to go snorkeling, she had a blast!

The nightlife in Honollulu is nothing to write home about. The bars are filled with soldiers and pickins are slim. I would do a booze cruize if I were to party there again. However, I find the polonesion mix women quite attractive.

I would opt for the North Shore recommendation. I would avoid Hanauma Bay. I have been there a couple time over 25 years. It wild life is just not what it used to be. Plus you have to pay and you might get stampeded by tourists.

I just stick around the West Shore - Makaha and Yokahama when I go play. I plan to do some day trips to North Shore and stay away from shopping malls as much as possible.
