DIY 20 gal long Sump with AE tech reef devil skimmer

Hi Hey I want to thank the ones who helped me on the 24 gal aqua pod filter issues. I am grateful .. I need anyone with knowledge and good explainations of how to set up a 20 gal long sump with AE tech reef devil skimmer. I`m setting up a 65 gal tall tank. I`m not sure how to plumb the thing. I do have basic understanding of the dividers. going to incorporate a refugium in center .Does the skimmer need to be on a short stand inside the sump. ( no room for it outside the sump) my tank is 36" long.what plumbing parts do I need to plumb the skimmer? How much room to leave from top of sump tank and dividers for overflow? If anyone has a design or ideas please help!! I have visited meleves reef. sump design but doesnt tell how to plumb etc. I have a 1"outflow from tank and 3/4 " return to tank.

I wouldn't put the fuge in the center. You have little control of the flow with it in the center.

I would do a fuge on the left or right, skimmer opposite far end, and return in the middle. just my 2 cents

As far as how much room to leave, you need to figure out how much flow you have with the power off. Maybe run your overflow to a 5 gallon bucket or two and see roughly how much you have. Then calculate how much is needed in the 20 long for that much water

Thanks draleigh , Makes sense to put the fuge at the end. I will do the calculation too..
