DIY 40B Stand Build

Swooped up a couple MP10W'S!!

I hopeing to pick up another MP10 for when I set up my 40B! Good to see your tank on NR and RC!

Even using 2x4's, you can use less lumber. Instead of adding the inside support beams, you could just angle drill the outside 2x4's to the top and bottom frames.

Thanks! The tank is a custom made Visio 40 breeder. 36x18x17, 3/8" glass, center trapezoid overflow. 1 1/2" drain, (2) 3/4" returns, black back. The lights are an Aquaticlife 6x39 fixture, soon to be upgraded to ATI bulbs.

This thing looks pretty. Like how you left it unfinished, well without stain is what I mean. The only thing I would do is get some veneer tape and iron it on the plywood edge. It comes in all kinds of wood species and is found at most big box stores. I think it will give it a more polished look. But do it only if YOU want to. It's one of those things that usually only a builder will notice. I'm pretty sure no one else will notice.

Thanks for the tip! I intentionally left it unstained, but did put 3 coats of clear sealant on it. I'll look into the veneer tape though, might give it that extra touch.

Pic update!! Here's the latest FTS of the 40. I recently swapped out an actinic bulb for a purple. The 6x39 fixture now runs:

Front:
coral+
blue+ (dawn)
purple
blue+ (dawn)
coral+
blue+
Back:
