DIY Bulkheads

I saw a bulkhead question, and remembered I wanted to submit this to The Octopus but it is no longer running...

Basically, you can use a few pennies worth of PVC electrical fittings and a rubber washer instead of buying a bulkhead. Not only does this save money, but you can keep a lot of extra parts on hand, run out to home depot/lowes instead of driving all the way to Salty Critter (great for floods!), and do plumbing designs that would otherwise be impractical.

I am using 5 of these on my sump, and have not had any problems with them. You will probably need commercial bulkheads for anything larger than 1" or so.

I would still recommend testing 1 to be sure before completely redoing your set up.
