I use an air pressure system to add my evap water. I imagine you could do something simmilar to dose the part one and part two. You would need 1 small air pump, a two port air distro ( can be found at wal mart) Some airline tubing and a drill. ou will also need some silicone to seal the holes in the cap. Drill a whole in the bottle caps. Run airline tubing from the air pump to the distro, then to each of the bottles. Then run another air tube from each of the bottles to your tank, this line should go all the way to the bottom of the bottle. This will be the dosing line. Seal the left over space in the bottle caps. Now when you start the Air pump air will fill the bottles and will force the fluid to flow to the tank. You can adjust the flow by setting the Airline distro, or by tieing a knot in the airline goinng to the tank.

I hope this helps.

Thanks kasper4lyf.

comatose,
Roughly 1 gallon a day. I use an auto top off system with float swithes.

Something to think about: although the top-off rate and the dosing rate are close, they are not the same - and certainly vary by season. Idealy you should seperate the two issues: have a lower float valve to control the top-off based on evaporation, and a higher float valve that allows for dosing.

you can goto my webpage and look at the "Dripper" area in the DIY section and use that method, or attach a float valve to it like in my Float Switch section, Salt buckets hold 5 or 6 gallons of water, that would give you 5 or 6 days before you need to refill it.

Thanks
it was a friends from a kent dripper that he was throwing away, but i know you can pick some up at any hospital supply store, or if you know of anyone that works in a hospital can bring a couple home for you.

Since kent has them for their drippers you could aways email them and ask them how you can pick up one or two.

Personally if i made that dripper again i would use the float valve with 1/4" tubing and a quick disconnect for easy refills.
the dripper will clog on you every few weeks or so, unless your just dripping RO water and not a two part additive.

When you use the powerhead/bucket method of topoff, do you just run that big tube to your tank/sump? Isn't it 'unsightly'? How do you hang it on your tank (I don't have a sump on my new setup)?

Or do you reduce the diameter of the tubing from the maxijet into something like RO tubing or airline tubing which can lead to your tank/sump? Can this be done rather neatly?

With the gravity drips, how high does it need to be? I have the IV drip but was wondering if I could just hang a 1 gallon bottle in my stand and just drip kalk and not use it as a topoff.

the hole in the gallon bottle where the IV tube plugs into should be higher than the water line your dripping into.
