DIY Fuge

I'm setting up a 20 cube, I have an Emporer 280 Bio-wheel filter that doesn't work, motor is pooched, So I'm gonna use the filter housing and install a small pump to the end of the inlet and pump the water up and through the unit.

I have installed an overflow area so that the pump will be hidden from view but the flow will travel back to the tank. Gotta a few questions.

What size pump?, Should I use the Bio-wheel?, what will i put in it?, It's 9 inches deep and 6 inches wide, I will be installing a light on top.

I would say scrap the wheel... put 4 inches of sand in it, and some chaeto..

As for the pump... whatever moves the water from fuge to cube is fine... slower the better imo..
