DIY Kalk Reactor

All,

I just setup a DIY kalk reactor. I hooked it up in-line with my auto topoff (Tunze Osmolator). I built it mostly from supplies from Rock City Machine in downtown Nashville. I made it out of a double height (20") water filter housing. Total cost was around $70.

So far it is working great! -- really leveling out my pH with small kalk additions rather than the big bolus additions I was doing prior to getting an auto topoff. Not to mention I can be lazier now :)

Here is a pic of the unit in action:

... and here is a thread in the DIY forum where I got some help with building it:

The original inspiration for doing this came from c_stowers, although I'm pigheaded like he is so I had to do this my own way ;)

Thanks, Chris!

Pigheaded? Don't know about that, but the reactor looks great. I definately think that yours is an improvement from mine. Keep us posted on how things go. I really like your idea for adding fresh kalk without taking the reactor apart.
