DIY Kits - Reactors, Skimmers, Etc.

I just stumbled across this company, Avast Marine, which is a RC Supplier. I saw their pop up banner and clicked on it. Has anyone built their DIY skimmers, Calcium Reactors, Kalk Reactors, Media Reactors, etc? For the media reactors, calcium & Kalk reactors, I think it is a slammed dunk idea. There is a great opportunity to save some good money, provided you can follow what looks to be simple directions.

However, I am wondering how good the skimmer design is. Has anyone used or built one of their skimmers? I am very interested.

Here is a link to their website so you can check them out. :reading:

Avast is legit. I bought their ATO and it's solid.

I am going to build my own skimmer using those same plans I think.

I've heard very good things about their skimmers. Im going to buy one soon.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I think I may do the ATO, Calcium Reactor and skimmer. Skimmer is the only one that slightly concerns me as I am not sure if my creation will suffice.

I have one of there reactors. Absolute top quality every thing fits perfect and everything you need for the build is accounted for. customer service is second to none.

Well that is fanatic news. You can't beat the price and the reactors look like the Geo. the skimmers kind of resemble the Bubble King in my mind.

I've done there reactor kits as well as their Kalk reactor, and am very pleased, I would have used their skimmer but it's a bit small for my 600 gallon system upgrade. I'm really looking forward to the evolution of their vibrating base.

The vibration based looked cool. Do you Zeo?

I have their mr5 reactor kit and it is very solid. Even the smallest has a fairly large volume.

Thanks for the reply Sean. Did the kit require you to have to do anything special or was it pretty straight forward without any need for mods or extra parts? i.e. it was a well laid out kit? I really think I am going to make all my stuff.
