DIY LED Help

Hey RC!

Before I start this off, I have pretty much 0 experience in electronics. I have been able to get a few motors running, LED's lit, and that's about it. I am up for learning, but right off the bat I won't understand electronics talk. So dumb it down for a complete beginner please :)

Ok!

I already have a 2 bulb T8 fixture (Manufacturer unknown, total of 78 watts.), over my 40 breeder, running a daylight bulb and a 50/50 bulb.

-I want to be able to keep soft corals, and maybe some LPS. So I need help creating a simple, cheap (ish. Under 70$ preferably, but I can spend more if need be.) LED fixture that, with help from the T8 fixture, can keep these corals.

-I would like more of a 50/50 look, so I'm guessing more in the 6500-8500K range. I don't need the ability to run the lights on any sort of controller, I basically want on and off, and the ability to dim.

-So my main questions are, what are the main components I need? Obviously I need LED's, wire, dimmer, switch/timer and a power supply. But what else?

Also, a description of how to wire it all up (safely! So it doesn't burn my house down. :D ) would be helpful.

Thank you!

OH, one last thing. I'd like separate control of blue and white. Not sure how much more complicated that makes things.

first question.. Why not just get a 4 tube fixture??

Main reason to ask this" off the rack power supply, drivers, and controller alone will blow the budget...

Adding aluminum tube and cheap fleabay LED's won't add much more...

you can do a simplistic design w/ 2 channel- 18(9 per channel) 3 w leds, 36V ps 2 Meanwell LDD's for like $140.....
