diy live rock

Has anyone tried making diy live rock?
I was at tulsa aquatics yesterday and they had some flat rock that was man made
I can see a lot of rock scape uses with it.
Portland cement and crushed coral 5 to 1 ratio
Sounds easy except the curing time is a little long at 6 to 10 weeks
How ever at less than 2.00 per pound its very tempting to try

I have over thirty pounds in my tank that I made.you can make it cheaper than 2 bucks a pound.My recipe is somewhere here on reef central.When we get to the hotel I will get on the laptop and search for it.

Im hoping to have all diy rock in my display tank and all real live rock in the sump

Yea water softner gives it some character too but don't use to much because it will weaken your rock.
