DIY Multichip LED Question

(1) Anyone DIY these and have them still going? I want to add some more light to my system and was looking at diy for at least two of these.

(2) I have a bunch of LPC-35-700 Meanwell Drivers that i was hoping to use on this build since I have them. Any concern with using these or they even suitable for this application?

(3) Anyone built an enclosure for these that look presentable? I thought I saw someone using PVC as a housing. Just looking for some ideas. Thanks

1) Yes, I built some multi-channel ones, they are currently lighting my 180 gallon tank. One was over my biocube for well over a year. They grew LPS/SPS great. I believe most will tell you there are better chips out there now vs the 100W panels, people are using panels more like this now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cree-Xlamp-...560?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3389d27e38 I think.

2) Cannot Comment because they were 5 channel chips I used LDD series drivers

3) I used makers heatsinks:

Though I had previously just attached the chip to a cheap heatsink/fan combo for a CPU:

Thanks iced98lx How did the fan heat sink Combo do? I was hoping to do something like that.

I may just sell these drivers cheap and then buy the LDD series driver. Do you mind telling me where you got yours in the pic? Thanks again

I could be wrong, but it "seems" like the CPU (esp if copper based) would be better than the Makers..

The CPU cooler kept the chip 2 degrees cooler. I am not worried about the makers, even with full power no fans it didn't get to dangerous levels. For the appearance and ease of hanging I am happy I chose them. Glad I did 12 inch ones vs 6 though.
