I want to hang my new lights when they come in from some kind of track across the ceiling . Has anyone tried this and can some direct me in a direction to find info on tracking to hang stuff from a ceiling .

Are you talking about the main tank or in the "sump room" John? More over, are we talking functional or "pretty" and functional?

Main Tank

was thinking something like track lighting tracks but those won't hold the weight of the lights I have coming .

I'm looking for something I can run over the tank attached to the ceiling beams that the lights hanging wires could side in so the lights could be slid to center them over my tank .

Pretty would be nice as well . Have to keep the wife happy too.lol

Those are pretty cool looking fixtures. We should make something that at least looks hi-tech for them. Are you wanting to slide them front to back or side to side?

Side to side . I will have to center the tracking in the middle of the tank . Then I should be able to center the lights from side to side by sliding them . Hi tech would be cool but after the cost of these the less it cost to hang the better . I looking for a nice middle ground solution .

2x4 from the ceiling with hanging hardware (can be painted white or any other color) (could be oak or anything else)

I thought of that but I want to be able to slide them side to side . I will have two fixtures and want to be able to get them as close to each other as possible .

LOL I understand! Hi-tech looking doesn't have to high dollar though. Gimme a night or two to sleep on it and I'll see what I can come up with.

Suspension rail to hang cabinets. It has a "C" channel that a square block slides through and a bolt that lies flush in the block. It's strong enough to hold kitchen cabinets and slides easily back and forth. Plus it costs about $8-$10 bucks for about 6 feet.
