Hello,
As a fellow rock maker I am always looking for better, lighter materials to use. I believe I have come up with a perfect "filler" for our rock. Has anyone ever heard of "azek"? Azek is used in the construction industry for exterior applications, it is basically the same thing as PVC pipe except it is "cellular", it has air injected into the mix. I have been using azek board for various applications in my system for years with no problems. My business makes exterior spindles, turnings & shutters of azek. After years of trashing the shavings I finally realized that it would be an excellent filler for DIY LR.
1. It floats
2. It is PVC, coraline loves it
3. Like PVC it is inert
I have made a lot of rock in the past, this fall I am going to make a batch with cement, oyster shell, rock salt, sand, and the azek shavings.
I wanted to have a picture of the shavings to post but my camera battery is dead!! I will put up a picture tomorrow.

thats a cool idea.. I use Azek thorugh my job a lot... It would be easy to go around and pick up scrpas off job sites.. heheee.. good idea.. let me know how it comes out...
