In putting together a custom 20g long All-In-One nano, I am looking for a cheap yet innovative solution for the refugium section behind the false wall, as well as implementing a moon light.
I recently came across a link for various utility LEDs designed mainly for cars, trucks, etc. and I am unsure if the parts I am looking to purchase are compatible. Basically, I want to find a way to power 4 of the "3 LED High Flux" Round Utility & Accent Lights; 2 warm white/1 cool white for the refugium and 1 blue for the moonlight over the display. Each light produces 25 lumens and operates 10-15.8 volts. With both the refugium and the moonlight running on an opposite light cycle of the main lights, it will be the most convenient to have them on the same plug.
In order to power the lights I plan to purchase a "8 Wire Jumper-Connecter" to attach the lights and then a "4 Watt 120VAC to 12VDC Power Adapter" with a barrel-plug which attaches to the Wire Jumper.
First and foremost, will this combination fire the LEDs? Secondly, are the 2 warm/1 cool white LEDs enough to grow chaeto in a 10"x4.5x"11 (LWH) refugium chamber? If not, should I upgrade to the "8 LED" or "5 High Flux" Utility Lights and if so what combination of wall-wart/jumper would I need?
The link for the lights is here (lights in question about 1/3 way down):
http://autolumination.com/fixtures.htm
And link for power supplies:
http://autolumination.com/controllers.htm
Also, cost is not really an issue, so if my current setup is not enough to grow chaeto, please help me put together one which will. And what are your opinions on 2 warm/1 cool white as far as color temperature for growing chaeto? Should I try and add additional lights, including 1 red?
If this doesn't work I was probably going to try a DIY LED kit from aquastyle, or just get the JBJ refugium light (rather not do this #boring).
Thanks for any input, I really appreciate it!!
