DIY Skimmer

Has anyone in the DRC built their own skimmers?
I've built counter current skimmers in the past, but I find myself in the need of building a new one, and I'm considering other types.
Any suggestions or successes?
Needs to handle a minimum of 150 gallons, (90 tank and 60 sumps)

I haven't built one yet but plan on it. I was going to use some of the ideas from here. And here. And here. Also. Dont forget OZ. And here.

I can see this being a DRC project. If we can build one, test it then bulk build it for the club as a project at a meeting that would be cool. I have a berlin turbo and it goes through impellers every 8 months. I just ordered 2 more yesterday. I know I could build something that would kick its a**.

I really like the Randy Stacy E site the best. Its well thought out and has been tested.

Not that I have looked around or anything.

That sounds like a great idea, I'd be game! I am going to need a huge skimmer for my big fowlr. I'm sure with all the big eating and pooping machines I'd have, it will surely be put to the test. I have an old emperor aquactics skimmer we could look at/mess around with, building ideas etc. I don't have a pump for it, but I am planning on using it on the 110 with the return pump for my 75g. Don't know how it will perform. I'd really like to build something similar to a bubble king or equivalent etc.

Just saw this, Does anyone know what a "SCHLETZ HI-TECH INJECTOR" is or does. They claim they are the only ones using it. How different is it then the standard venturi design?

Nothing came up when I googled the name.

That is very cool, wonder how good of a skimmer it is, what it would be rated for. I figured out how he made it, I just don't understand the plumbing/pump system.

for total overall efficiency , just think big air pump and air stone in a hue-mungus skimmer fed not by a pump, but the tank overflow line to the sump, interupted by the skimmer. very little power required for the air pump. and if you have a basement sump, you get even more and faster flow.
