Has anyone attempted a stand for a 46 bowfront? I would like to see some ideas or plans. The one that came with my tank years ago is junky decorative pressboard thing that has no room for a sump under it. Aaahhh, it is time to warm up the garage with some table saw action!

i would recommend you visithttp://www.garf.org and go to the section at the left called how to pages. in there you will be able to find a section about stands. when you go in it prompts you to enter the desired dimensions and it will give you a cut list and assembly instructions that you can print and take with you to get your boards. this is the method i will be using after i move and i am ready to build a stand for my 55. good luck steverino.
edit: oops, i didnt notice the bowfront part till later..... hmmm. i dont know about that one. sorry.

I am mentally planning on having the front of the stand be somewhat like a octagon type shape when viewed from above. Maybe a flat door across the front for the primary access point, and two panels per each side of that. Keep the back mostly open with perhaps one-2 uprights. And the tank itself will sit on a thick piece of high-quality rock hard plywood. If I support the ply wood from below with several uprights, and finish the front with a few panels/doors, I'll be OK. I am utterly amazed at how cheap the stands are that come with many tanks these days, it is amazing to me that they hold the weight they do. I built a simple stand for a 25 gallon and I bet it is stronger than the 75 gallon stand I saw at the LFS.
