I am looking to build a stand close to this. I want extra access to the canopy. I am thinking some combination of front panel opening and then the top would fold back with lights attached for any major work needed. Any ideas how to make this happen with the crown molding? The other issue is height. There will not be room enough above the tank for the entire top to fold up.

On my last tank the entire canopy was on pocket door track mounted to the ceiling. This allowed you to roll the canopy out of the way giving you unobstructed access to the entire top of the tank. I loved it and painting the pocket door track white it was barely noticeable on the ceiling. Canopy was also top of tank to ceiling giving it a built-in look.

Ha yours was the first I thought about. If I decide to go all the way to the ceiling that is definitely the way I will go. Right now I am thinking not quite that high.
