DIY stand with laminate flooring skin

I'm building a DIY stand tomorrow with the plans I got here.

What do you guys think of using laminate flooring to skin it instead of plywood? I have a compressor and brad nailer thought I'd mount the flooring horizontaly on the front and back and vertically on the sides. It's for an AIO tank and there won't be a sump underneath

Some types of laminate flooring do not like getting wet and will disintegrate and/or deform rather quickly. I've had other types that were virtually indestructible, even after having been submerged in water.

I'd test a piece first.

What he said. It would be a shame to do all that work and then have it destroyed the first time it gets wet. (and it will)

I like using melamine and then putting a bead of caulk along the edges so water can't penetrate to the edges. The water can't soak in and is easy to clean up.

It will look awesome. If you don't want to nail it, use glue, just remember to get something to apply pressure long enough for glue to cure, some takes longer than others. That's what I did with mine, just glued it to a thin piece of subfloor or direct to your wood for the stand. Here is mine.
