So today I built my first aquarium stand. I sanded it beat it with a thin chain from my daughters swine set and stained it. My question is. Can I seal it with something like a clear lacquer or Thompson's water seal? I am worried about chemicals. Can someone help me?:wave:
Should be good to go. I used Minwax Helman's finish. A little pricier than regular poly (about $16/quart), but it is tough stuff and made for outdoor abuse. 3 coats should do ya good.
Varathane makes a water base clear finish & it is the only product I found to be safe with food contact like cutting boards. It can be recoated in 30 minutes & Home Depot sells it. I have used it many times on stands.
