DIY Sump baffel placement

Hey guys I have a 110 gal aga that I am making into a sump / refugium. Can any body tell me how far apart to install the baffles for a bubble trap and on the second baffle how high off the bottom of the tank. Any input is appreciated.

How much flow is traveling through your sump(gph)? How wide is the sump? More flow=wider baffle spacing and vice versa.

how long is the sump (how far does the water have to travel)

if you're putting 1000gph through 17" of sump length then you're in for a battle w/ bubbles

regardless remember not to have your last baffle be an over

Semi-guess here - 18" wide sump flowing 800-1000GPH...
If it were me... I would space the baffles 1-1/2" apart, and 1-1/2 high. Use a 2x4 for spacing.

I'm almost positive that there is a formula for this... but I dont know it.

Dave, that's pretty much what I showed you the other day. You can have that left over black sheet that I have too if you want to try it. You may be able to get 3 baffles out of it. Just let me know when you want to swing by and get it.

It's 72X17 or 60X17 footprint

I have about 1000GPH going through a 55 gal with 1.5" baffles...

I would go at least 1.5" between baffles...

It is 60X17 so I am thinking 2" between and up. Brian, I already have 6 pieces of glass but I appreciate the offer.
