what is a good space between baffles, i have seen any where between .5" to 1.5". what do you guys think? is there a reason to have smaller vs larger gaps, or visa-versa......thanks

i guess its by preference and what you plan to do. ill be making mine wider as i plan to add some media in those slots. heaters too

basically its about space,if ya can fit wider ones or not....mine are closer because it's only a 110g sump/fuge.......both ways work the same by stopping bubbles

It depends on the size of the sump and the flow through. 3/4" is my min preference with 1" being pretty common. If you get short on space you do not always need to do three baffles of up/down/up. Just up/down often does a fine job of stopping bubbles and dividing compartments.

If you have not done so already, check out Melev's site for good sump info.
